Jake Kulak & The Modern Vandals are battle-tested live performers with a garage rock attitude and an unrelenting sound that commands any stage. Consisting of frontman Jake Kulak (Vocals/Lead Guitar), Olivia Di Maio (Bass), Jeremy Peck (Drums), and Steve Isherwood (Guitar), the band has a synergetic chemistry cultivated through constant live performing. Kulak’s foundational background in Blues guitar has heavily influenced the band’s style and approach to live performance.
Originally from Hartford County, CT and now based out of Brooklyn, NY, The Modern Vandals’ impressive improvisational skills ensure no two shows are ever the same.
Jake and his band won The Connecticut Blues Society's Band Challenge and represented CT at The International Blues Challenge in Memphis. They were also nominated for a New England Music Award for “Best New Act of the Year". Jake's singles "Caution Tape" and "Circles" were finalists in the International Songwriting Competition, "the competition to take note of", according to The New York Times and his debut album garnered recognition in the Hartford Courant's Top Albums by CT Musicians. Jake and his band were also the $10,000 Grand Prize winners of the Foxwoods "Battle of the Bands" competition.
