I am a 17 year old musician from Connecticut who plays blues and jazz guitar, along with classical piano. I started playing guitar when I was 11 years old. I received a Fender Squire as a Christmas present and immediately taught myself to play Screwdriver by the White Stripes. That song is a perfect example of how one guitar can express so much emotion. I then heard the White Stripes cover Death Letter and that led me to the music of Son House and other blues greats like Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, and BB King. The blues is at the heart of so many other types of music. When I play the blues, I play what I feel - not just the notes in front of me.
Today, I study guitar with Frank Varela at Summit Studios. I am very thankful for the many performing opportunities I have received already and I look forward to gaining more experience and writing and playing my own music in the future.
